Member Policies & Procedures
- These are the most current and accurate Summit member policies.

SECTION I - Hours of Operation
- FITNESS CENTER
- Monday - Friday 5:30 am - 10:00 pm
- Saturday 8:00 am - 10:00 pm
- Sunday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

- Hours of operation are subject to change based upon facility utilization patterns. The Summit doors will open no sooner than 5 minutes prior to the posted times. All activity will cease 15 minutes prior to closing time. All members and guests must exit the building no later than the posted closing time.
- HOLIDAY HOURS
- Holiday hours of 10:00 am - 2:00 pm will be in effect for New Year's Day, Easter Sunday and Thanksgiving Day.
- Early close of 6:00 pm occurs on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
- SUMMER HOURS
- Monday - Friday 5:30 am - 9:00 pm
- Saturday & Sunday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
- HOLIDAY CLOSURES
- The Summit is closed annually for maintenance around the Labor Day weekend. Other regular closures are:
- Christmas Day - December 25th
- Memorial Day - Last Monday in May
- Independence Day - July 4th
- Labor Day - 1st Monday in September

- CHILD CARE (Reservations Required 24 Hours in Advance)
- Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 6:30 pm
- Saturday 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
- (December through March Only)

- Summer hours for child care will be:
- Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 4:00 pm

SECTION II - House Policies
- The Summit reserves the right to refuse service to anyone.
- MEMBERSHIP CARDS
- Each member 13 years of age or older will receive a membership card.
This card will be required to enter the facility and to access a locker. A fee of $5.00 will be charged to replace lost membership cards. Lost membership cards must be replaced within 30 days.
- All members are required to have their photo on record.
- CHECK IN
- There are control gates at the Front Desk. You may enter the club by presenting your membership card to the staff on duty at the front desk. Members under age 13 are not issued cards, but must check in by telling desk staff their member number. No one will be allowed in the club without appropriate identification or payment.
- LOCKER ROOMS
- Adult
- The men's and women's locker rooms are for members 13 and over. Parents with one or more children 12 and under may use the family changing room..
- You may choose any full sized locker that has a key in the door for day use. Open the locker door and place your membership or guest card into the lock mechanism. This releases the key. Each key has a safety pin on it. Please pin it to your clothing (not a towel as it may be mixed up with others). When you replace the key, your card is released from the mechanism.
- Rental lockers for storage of personal items are available for a monthly fee on a first-come-first serve basis. Check at the Front Desk for availability.
- Please be sensitive to others regarding nudity and modesty issues.
- Family Changing Rooms (Four individual rooms available)
- These private changing rooms are for parents with children 12 and under. Two are handicapped accessible.
- If unoccupied, enter to change or shower, exit and place your clothing in the lockers in the main area. Your membership card releases the key as in the adult locker rooms.
- Boys and Girls Locker Rooms
- These locker rooms are for all members 12 & under.
- No locks are provided, but personal padlocks may be used if removed after use.
- All youth groups, school groups and church groups will use these locker rooms and adult supervision must be provided. Towels will not be provided.
- ATTIRE
- All members will be expected to wear proper workout attire for their particular activities.
- Clean, non-marking shoes must be worn in the gym, courts, weight room, cardio theatre, and studios.
- No cut-offs allowed in the pool.
- Children not toilet-trained must wear swim diapers in the pool. No regular diapers allowed in the pool. Swim diapers can be purchased at the front desk.
- Swimmers must dry off and have a shirt and shoes on before entering lobby areas.
- Clean, non-marking shoes and an upper body garment must be worn in all fitness areas. Shirts/skins sports are permitted in the gymnasium only.
- LOST & FOUND AND VALUABLES
- The Summit will not be responsible for articles lost, stolen or damaged in the facility or on Summit grounds.
- You are advised to leave your valuables at home or locked in your car. Do not leave them unsecured within the facility.
- Lost & Found items will be kept for the seven week session and then donated to charity on the last day of the session. Please contact the Front Desk for assistance.
- Confirmation of found items cannot be done over the phone and must be done in person..
- SMOKING
- The Summit has been designated a smoke-free and tobacco-free environment. This includes chewing tobacco.
- Smoking is not allowed within 50 feet of the building.
- FOOD AND DRINK
- No food or drink, other than water in a plastic bottle, will be allowed past the front desk. Exceptions may be made for special events.
- GUEST POLICY
- Each active membership is allowed 7 guest passes each year at no charge. Guest passes expire July 1st at which time 7 new passes will be credited to your account.
- Your guest must register at the Front Desk and will be logged into our computer system. Check with the Front Desk if you have questions.
- Any member 13 and older may bring in a guest of their age or older. Guests 17 and under MUST be under the immediate supervision (you must be with them) of the member and/or an Adult 18 and older.
- Guests 13 and older have some facility restrictions. Guests 13 and older have access to the following areas: Gym, Racquetball Courts, Track and Studio B for Table Tennis while accompanied by the member and/or an Adult 18 and older.
- Guests 17 and under have full access to Open Swim when lifeguards are on duty. Children 6 and under must be accompanied in the water by an adult.
- Guests 14 and older, when accompanied by a member 14 and older and/or Adult 18 and older, have access to lap swim in the pool.
- Guests 13 and older, when accompanied by a member 13 and older and/or Adult 18 and older, have access to aquatic exercise classes in the pool.
- Guests ages six to twelve have access to Open Climbing (must be belay certified) or Hangtime IF directly supervised by an adult.
- Pets are not to be tied up anywhere on the premises or brought in the building with the exception of service animals.
- SPECIAL EVENTS
- Announced special events will have precedence in facility usage.
- Please refer to the Summit Source Schedule and bulletin boards for information about special events and the facilities they will occupy.
- MAINTENANCE CLOSURES
- Management reserves the right to periodically close the facilities (generally less than two weeks each calendar year) for necessary repairs and maintenance.
- PHOTOGRAPHY
- Use of any camera, video or still photography is specifically prohibited at all times without the express written consent of The Summit management. The media is welcome to report all special events using photography or video.
- The use of video or digital image cell phones is prohibited.
- The Summit allows photographs to be taken under the following conditions:
- During a public or special event (as listed above);
- On the final day of scheduled swim lessons.
- For private parties and group rentals;
- By special permission of the on-call supervisor.
- With the exception of public or special events, photographs or video are only to include the members and guests in the party (shots that include other Summit members or guests are not allowed).
- The Summit management reserves the right to preview photo shoots, to confiscate film or video, or delete digital images that may include individuals not involved in the group activity to insure the privacy of its patrons.
- SOLICITATION/DISTRIBUTION
- Literature may not be distributed nor any solicitation made on the premises without express written consent of Northwest Healthcare.
- LATEX
- The Summit is a latex free environment. Latex products of any kind are not allowed in the facility, including balloons.
- PARTIES
- Non hosted parties may be scheduled with 14 days advanced notice by calling 751-4136.
SECTION III - Facility Entitlements and Policies
- AQUATICS
- A head-to-toe cleansing shower is mandatory prior to entering the pool and/or spa per Montana State Regulations. This helps to provide a healthy environment and keeps our chemical costs down.
- No food, chewing gum, or beverages other than water in a plastic container allowed in the pool area.
- Please read and follow all posted rules. Basic pool rules apply: no running on deck, no rough play, equipment must be used properly, no diving.
- We reserve the right to close any pool or spa due to contamination or mechanical problems.
- The pools and pool area may be closed for special events, which will be posted at least 1 week prior to closure.
- Consult the current Summit Source issue for pool schedules or ask the front desk.
- Multi-Use Pool
- No one 13 and under is allowed in the pools, spa, or pool areas unless there is a lifeguard on duty or with a swim instructor per Montana State Regulation 16.10.1524. Lifeguards are only on duty during Open Swim.
- Lap Swim is for members 14 and older and non-members 18 and older. Please observe lap swim etiquette. If crowded, please swim a circle pattern and share the lane with other swimmers. Up to 6 people per lane is recommended when circle swimming.
- Members 13 and older may attend aquatic exercise classes.
- Open Swim is available to all ages with the following exception: Children 6 and under must be accompanied in the water by an adult. A lifeguard will be on duty during all Open Swim and Preschool Open Swim times. Preschool Open Swim is designated for 1 adult per 1 or 2 children 6 and under and is in the Therapy Pool.
- Specific classes (i.e. Aquatic Exercise Classes, Swim Lessons, Swim Team, Fitness Swim) have exclusive use of the pool. Note: the schedule changes occasionally, please review the Summit Source each time a new one is printed.
- Whirlpool Spa
- The spa is co-ed and is available for use by members 14 and over per Montana State Regulation 16.10.1524 and non-members 18 and over. The whirlpool spa is available during all business hours.
- Members ages 7 to 13 and non-members ages 7 to 17 can use the spa only during Open Swim times when a lifeguard is on duty.
- Children 6 and under must be accompanied in the water by an adult and can use the spa only during Open Swim times when a lifeguard is on duty.
- Children 4 and under are NOT allowed in the spa due to the risk of heat stroke and per Montana State Regulation 16.10.1524.
- Spa water temperature will be maintained at 102 to 104 degrees.
- Please read and follow posted cautions before entering.
- Therapy Pool
- During weekdays the therapy pool will be reserved exclusively for our clinical therapies including: Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Arthritis, and Fibromyalgia programs.
- The therapy pool will be heated to an average temperature of 92 degrees.
- Maximum capacity of 20 is strictly enforced.
- Preschool Open Swim is available to children 6 and under, who are accompanied in the water by an adult. An adult to child ratio of 1 adult to 1 or 2 children is required. Maximum capacity of 20 is strictly enforced. The lifeguard can make exceptions and allow others to use the pool during this time for stretching and rehabilitation if space permits.
- Stretch Out time is for range of motion stretching, rehabilitation, and water walking. This time is reserved for adults 18 and older. The Aquatics Supervisor can make exceptions and allow younger participants to use the Therapy Pool during this time.
- Activities of the therapy pool will include, but are not limited to, aquatic physical therapy, aquatic exercise classes, and swim lessons.
- Summit members may not use the therapy pool during Physical Therapy times unless they have a written referral from KRMC Physical Therapy. The written referral MUST be given to the Summit's membership office so that it can be recorded in member notes. From time to time members may be asked to leave the therapy pool if it is over crowded or if there is a patient confidentiality conflict.
- No member with or with out a referral, can use the therapy pool on Tuesday or Thursday afternoon from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM.
- Sauna & Steam Rooms
- The sauna and steam rooms are available in both the men and women's locker rooms during all business hours.
- The sauna and steam rooms are restricted to those 13 and older. Please read and follow posted cautions.
- Swimsuits or towel wraps are required.
- GYMNASIUM
- Consult Summit Source gym schedule or Fitness Desk for activity options and times.
- Use of the gym is for members 13 and over. Members 12 and under must be under direct supervision of an adult member or in a supervised class for which the child is registered. Day fee users must be 18 or over unless under direct supervision of an adult.
- The gym and racquetball courts may be used by members 6 and older on Fridays after 6 p.m. and all day on Saturdays and Sundays without direct supervision. A parent or guardian must remain in the Fitness area (strength training, cardiovascular mezzanine or track) at all times.
- Basketballs, volleyballs, and soccer balls are available in the gym. Volleyball nets are available through the Fitness Desk.
- Athletic shoes must be non-marking and not used on the street.
- Gym participants are to be respectful of other users, equipment and the facility. Un-sportsman like conduct, recklessly kicking balls, etc. will not be tolerated. Specific gym activities may be designated such as leagues or special events.
- Members must use indoor felt soccer balls, no outdoor soccer balls allowed.
- NO DUNKING or hanging on rims or nets.
- The Northwest and Southwest basketball rims may be lowered for small children at the request of an accompanying adult.
- CLIMBING WALL
- Please read and follow all posted climbing rules.
- Everyone who uses the wall must be Belay Approved by our climbing wall staff.
- A two hour climbing class is required for all beginners 13 and over.
- Children 12 and under may use the wall if their parents have signed a Climbing Wall Waiver and they are part of a class or special group that is being directly supervised by staff members.
- During Kids Open Climbing children 12 and under may use the wall if they are belay approved and they are under the direct supervision of a belay approved adult or sibling.
- No bouldering without a spotter. Hands must stay below the 4th panel (9 ft. above the gravel). No bouldering within 6 ft. 6 inches (two panels wide) of a roped climber.
- Safety First - all harnesses, belay devices, ropes, and knots must be double checked before climbing.
- Shoes specifically made for climbing are required and are available for rent at the Climbing Wall.
- Open climbing times (see Summit Source) will have an instructor or supervisor on duty; all climbers must have passed the belay check and have a partner.
- Advanced climbing time is for experienced climbers only, who have been certified by an instructor to climb and belay with a partner, without direct supervision. No lead climbing during this time.
- Spectators and non-climbers are not allowed on the gravel area.
- STUDIO A, B and C
- When a class is in session the studios are reserved for class participants only.
- When a class is not in session, any member 13 & over may use the rooms to stretch out, jump rope, play table tennis (in Studio B) or simply do freestyle aerobics. The sound systems are for class use only. Children 12 and under my use the studios if accompanied by an adult member.
- Clean athletic shoes are required at all times.
- Members are asked to return equipment used from the studios after use, including weights, tubing, therapy balls, mats, etc.
- No unattended children 12 and under.
- WALKING/RUNNING TRACK
- The track is available all business hours for walking (inside lane), jogging (middle lane) and running (outside lane). Please be attentive and use the appropriate lane for your chosen activity/pace. Athletic shoes are required at all times.
- Direction will be clockwise Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday; counter clockwise Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.
- The underpass is to be used to cross the track. The ramp is to be used for mobility challenged individuals and/or wheelchair access only.
- Children 12 and under may access the track with direct adult supervision or special classes/workshops for which the child is registered. Check the current schedule or ask at the Front Desk for details.
- Please no spitting on track.
- Strollers are allowed under the following guidelines:
- No more than 2 strollers at a time on the track.
- The stroller size must take up only 1 lane.
- Use inside lane only.
- All strollers must yield to other pedestrian usage of the track.
- No "side-by-side" strolling.
- Child must be secured in stroller with proper harness/ seatbelt.
- CARDIOVASCULAR MEZZANINE
- Use of the Mezzanine is limited to members 13 years and over and non-members 18 and over.
- For safety reasons, children (members 12 and under, non- members 17 and under) are not allowed to "watch" their parents work out.
- An orientation session is required prior to using the equipment. Schedule at the Fitness Desk.
- Certain equipment may have sign up lists. Check with the Fitness Desk for more information.
- Cardio theater headsets are not provided so please bring your own. Headsets are available for purchase at the Front Desk.
- STRENGTH TRAINING AREA
- Use of the weight equipment is limited to members 13 and over and non-members 18 and over. Guests are required to undergo an orientation check off prior to utilizing the resistance training equipment. No Exceptions.
- For safety reasons, children (members 12 and under, non- members 17 and under) are not allowed to "watch" their parents work out.
- An orientation session is required prior to using the equipment. Schedule at the Fitness Desk. It is important that all individuals learn proper workout and equipment techniques.
- All youth ages 13-16 must complete a youth fitness orientation in order to use the fitness center equipment.
- Please allow others to work in between your sets.
- Please remove plates from bars and return weights, barbells, and dumb bells to their proper location after use.
- Children ages 7-17 may use the Youth P.A.C.E. equipment located in the Stretching Area and Kids Weight Room only under the direct supervision of an adult.
- Children 6 and under are not allowed in the Stretching Area and Kids Weight Room at any time.
- RACQUETBALL/SQUASH COURTS
- Members may reserve a court up to 3 days in advance at the Front Desk.
- Each member is allowed one hour of play per day, unless the court is empty and no reservation is pending.
- Athletic shoes and appropriate clothing are required at all times.
- Please call and give us at least 2 hours notice if you have to cancel a reservation.
- The court will be held for 10 minutes beyond the reserved time.
- Eye protection is required. Eye protection is available at the Fitness Desk on a first come - first served basis.
- Children 12 and under may access the racquetball/squash courts with direct adult supervision. Younger players learning the rules must be accompanied by an adult. Safety precautions and proper rules must be followed.
- Walleyball and handball may be played in all courts.
- Squash is available in court #4. Please read directions for moving the wall and use two people. For assistance, check with the Fitness Desk.
- TENNIS: Glacier Tennis
- The tennis courts are available all business hours. You may reserve a tennis court for 1-1/2 hours for singles and 2 hours for doubles. The names of players are required at the time of booking. Court reservations must be made with the front desk 751-4100. Lessons must be made with the tennis center 751- 4518.
- Courts may be scheduled up to 72 hours in advance. Advance notice of 24 hours is required to cancel a reserved court or lesson at no cost.
- Use your membership card to check in with front desk. Your fees may be charged to your account or paid by check, cash, or credit card. Non-members are required to prepay for court time and lessons at the time of booking.
- Non-marking tennis shoes only. This will be strictly enforced. Shirts are required.
- Your seven guest passes per year as Summit members may be used for tennis. This entitles you to member rates.
- Contact the tennis office for billing discrepancies.
- Announced special events will have precedence regarding facility use. This includes tournaments, socials, leagues, round robins, mixers and other pre-arranged programs.
- CLASS REGISTRATION
- Members are given first priority for class registration. Some fitness classes and special workshops are free to members, while others are offered at a discounted fee. Check our seasonal Summit Source schedules for current offerings. If you join a class after the registration period, the fee will be pro-rated if space is available in non-progressive classes.
- When registering for a class, payment must be received at the time of registration for the participant to be placed on the class roster.
- If after the first meeting of a class you decide for any reason that you do not like it, your registration fee for the class will be 100% refunded. After the second class, all fees are non- refundable except for special circumstances or class cancellations.
- CLINICAL SERVICES & HEALTH EDUCATION
- Clinical therapy services (Cardiopulmonary Rehab, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Recreation Therapy and Workplace Wellness) are not included with The Summit membership.
- The conference rooms are available for educational programs and meetings. Call the Community Health Promotion office for details (751-4500).
SECTION IV - Membership Account Policies
- BILLING
- Members will be billed on the first of each month for that particular month. Accounts are due and payable upon receipt of statements. Your monthly dues are not based upon attendance. The registration fee is a non-refundable processing fee.

- Charges made to membership accounts are payable in full by the end of the following month. Unpaid balances will automatically inactive the membership, and no further charges will be allowed until the outstanding balance has been paid in full.

- All account changes must be made 10 days prior to the month in which the change is to become effective.
- DELINQUENCY
- Delinquent accounts are inactivated and are subject to no admit status or cancellation at the discretion of The Summit management. Any delinquent account that goes into pre-collection status will automatically lose their privilege to charge to their account and be on a cash only basis for any purchases.
- EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer)
- Monthly dues may be paid by Electronic Funds Transfer at a discounted monthly fee from a checking or savings account. The Summit billing is generated on the 1st of every month. Auto pays are generated at that time with withdrawals occurring on the 10th of each month.
- CREDIT OR DEBIT CARDS
- Monthly dues paid through credit card or debit card fund transfers are withdrawn on the 1st of every month and include MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover. Credit Card and Debit Card payments for monthly dues are not eligible for discounted rates.
- YEAR PRE-PAYMENTS
- Monthly fees may be paid one year in advance. Yearly prepayments are eligible for a 10% discount on the annual monthly fee. However, the 10% discount will NOT apply to Company Rates, 6 & 6 Memberships, Temporary Memberships, and Registration Fees.Yearly prepayments are non-refundable. *Should someone on the account die or become medically incapacitated during the prepaid year, the proportional unused fees will be used to extend the length of the membership and/or added to the surviving member(s) account. In the event of a death of all account members, proportional fees shall be refunded to the estate of the account holder.
- VACATION FREEZE
- One 30-day vacation freeze is allowed each calendar year. The rate is $25.00 regardless of the membership type. In order to freeze an account, The Member Services Office must be notified at least 10 days prior to the month of the requested freeze.
- During a Vacation Freeze, account members are not able to access the Summit using their membership privileges, nor do they have access to their account guest passes. Questions regarding a Vacation Freeze should be addressed to the Summit Member Services Office.
- OCCUPATIONAL LEAVE
- Occupational leave is available with written employer verification. There is a $10.00 billing charge fee to start the leave and $10.00 billing charge to reactivate the membership.
- OCCUPATIONAL/HARDSHIP LEAVE
- The Summit allows a 3-month maximum Hardship Leave when a change in occupational status, such as being laid off from work, necessitates an absence from Summit dues. (The leave will be a minimum of one month.) This leave is available at no charge. Written verification from employer must be provided at the time of the request.
- MEDICAL LEAVE/MEDICAL RELEASE
- A Medical Freeze is available for prolonged illness or injury. A letter from a Health Care Provider is required to verify the condition. There is a three month limit for any Medical Freeze with review by management at that time.A Medical Freeze will not exceed twelve consecutive months. A Medical Release is a written authorization from a Health Care Provider and is required to reactivate a Summit Membership that has been placed on Medical Freeze. If a member experiences a medical emergency at The Summit, they are advised to consult with their Health Care Provider before returning to regular workouts.
- COMPANY MEMBERSHIPS
- A company membership can be established by 5 or more employees at a discounted rate. Companies that belong to the Kalispell or Whitefish Area Chamber of Commerce or the Flathead Area Business Association would also receive this rate. Monthly dues must be electronically transferred or paid through payroll deduct. The year-in-advance prepayment discount cannot be applied to company rates.
- TERMINATION
- Resignation: The member may resign from the club by giving written notice that they wish to terminate at least ten days prior to the first day of the month after the membership agreement period ends. Monthly fees will not be prorated should membership be terminated in the middle of a month. The member may not offset fees and/or other outstanding charges against his/her registration fee, and the registration fee is non-refundable. Past due accounts must be paid in full. All membership cards must be turned in and the resignation shall be effective the first day of the following month or in accordance with the terms of the membership agreement.
- Termination: The membership of any member who is in arrears in the payment of his/ her account for a period in excess of 60 days may have their membership terminated. All debts and bills to the club are immediately due in full. The membership of a member may be cancelled or suspended by management for any period of time in the event of violation of any rules and regulations of the club, or any conduct which, in the opinion of the management of the club, is detrimental to the welfare, good order and character of the club.
- Any member or guest of a member found maliciously or willingly destroying or abusing the facilities of the club or exhibiting any inappropriate behavior will be subject to immediate expulsion without refund of registration fees and the member shall be liable to the club for all damages resulting from such actions. Termination of a member by the club does not relieve the member of dues or other charges, previous to the date of termination. See Summit Behavioral Policy section for more information.
- FEE ADJUSTMENTS
- Fees are subject to adjustment at any time as determined by the management. One month notice will be given to members of any upcoming adjustments.
- MEMBERSHIP ADJUSTMENTS
- Family members may be added to or taken off your membership by paying an upgrade or downgrade fee.
- A membership may be upgraded by paying the difference in registration fee between the current member type and the new member type. If you are upgrading the membership type and have already have paid that registration fee, you will only be charged the upgrade fee.
- Downgrades will be effective on the first of the upcoming month.
- Upgrades may be made effective before the first of the upcoming month by paying a prorated monthly fee. The prorated fee would include the cost difference between the current and new monthly membership fee.
- FEE REFUNDS
- Registration fees are non-refundable. If a member must cancel their membership due to extenuating circumstances, they may receive a 100% refund if the request is made within seven business days of their join date.
- If a member must cancel their membership due to medical reasons, they may do so with written authorization from their physician. Any account balance will then be refunded. Please allow 21 days for processing.
- A member forced to cancel their membership due to medical reasons will have one year in which to rejoin The Summit without being required to repay the registration fee. Medical documentation must be provided and should verify the need for medical leave prior to rejoining.
- Fees for Temporary memberships are non-refundable. In extenuating circumstances, the fee payment may be used for in- house credit. Documentation must be submitted to the Member Services Committee for approval.
- Credit balances on Member accounts will be used as in-house credit.
- Refunds are available upon request.
- MEMBERSHIP TYPES DEFINED
- The Summit offers two basic types of memberships. Here is a brief description of each:

- Temporary Memberships: These memberships may be purchased in the Member Services Department for one month at a time. There is no contract or registration fee associated with this type of membership. Temporary Memberships expire 30 days after the date of purchase, and there is no limit on the number of months for which a Temporary Membership may be purchased. A portion of temporary fees may be applied toward a registration for a contractual membership if processed within 2 weeks of the temporary expiration date.
- Temporary Memberships do not include guest passes and are unable to bill charges to their account.
- Temporary Memberships may also be purchased for two weeks at a time.
- Contractual Memberships: This type of membership offers lower monthly rates but requires a registration fee, a signed contract, and the commitment of a least one year.
- Company Memberships are Contractual Memberships offered at a discounted rate to employees of many local companies. Employees who work for companies that belong to the Kalispell or Whitefish Area Chamber of Commerce or the Flathead Area Business Association may be eligible to receive this discounted rate. Companies with 5 or more employees who establish individual memberships are also eligible.
- Monthly dues must be electronically transferred (through a savings or checking account) or paid through payroll deduct. The Year in Advance prepayment discount does NOT apply to company memberships.
- MEMBERSHIP CLASSIFICATIONS DEFINED
- SPARK memberships are for children ages 12 and under. Facility restrictions apply to this age group. Refer to policies or inquire at the front desk for clarification. No membership cards are issued to SPARK members. When the child turns 13, they must upgrade to a Student member and fill out a Health/ Medical Questionnaire to request their membership card. The difference in registration fee will be waived within one month of the child's 13th birthday.
- Student memberships are for teens and young adults age 13 - 25 who are full time students (Junior High, High School or College). Verification of student status will be requested once a year. Most adult privileges are available to student members, including adult locker rooms.
- Adult memberships are 25 and over, or 19 and over if not full time students.
- Couple memberships are for a husband and wife or a parent and one dependent child through age 18 (or age 25 if a full time student).
Family memberships include a husband and wife and their dependent children; a father and his dependent children; a mother and her dependent children; or a legal guardian(s) and their dependent children. Children included in the membership must be 18 and under or 25 and under if they are a full time student..
When a child is no longer a dependent, he/she may continue their own membership with no registration fee if it is done within a month of losing dependency.
- Senior memberships are for those 65 years and older.
- Senior Couple memberships are for those with at least one person 65 years of age.
SECTION V - Children's Policy
- CHILD CARE (Tyke Town)
- The child care center is available by reservation only. Reservations need to be made 24 hours in advance.
- See Tyke Town staff for a complete list of policies.
- Children, 6 and under, are not allowed in the fitness area unless participating in a specific class. When not actively participating in a class they should be in the childcare area.
- Parents are expected to be in the facility while their children are in childcare. If you leave for an "outside" workout, the staff must be notified of your intentions. Childcare is for short-term stays only, with a maximum of 3 hours.
- Security Policy
- When a parent drops off their child, they will immediately sign them in on the sign-in sheet at the desk. When the parent returns, the signature will need to match the original one to allow the child to leave.
- If a parent drops off their child and wants their spouse to pick them up, written permission will be needed on the sign-in sheet. Verification of the spouse's identity will be needed by a picture ID. This will be done from their driver's license or from use of the computer screen, if they are members.
- Sick children are not allowed in Tyke Town. We appreciate your close attention to this, in order to ensure a healthy environment for other children, members and staff.
- Personal Items should be labeled such as bottles, diapers, food, bags and clothes. This helps us monitor articles effectively.
- Diapers are not supplied by The Summit. Please provide extra diapers for your child's comfort.
- Children 6 and under left unattended in any part of the facility will be placed in the childcare by The Summit staff. Parents can pick up their children at the childcare during business hours and will be charged the appropriate fee.
- FITNESS AREA
The Fitness Floor and Cardiovascular Mezzanine are off limits to children 12 and under (See Section III, F & G.) with the following exceptions;
- Member children 6-12 are allowed in the Stretching Area and Youth P.A.C.E. Room ONLY when accompanied by a parent.
- Children 6 and under are not allowed in the Stretching Area and Youth P.A.C.E. Room at any time.
- Member Children 10 and up are allowed to participate in some aerobic classes ONLY when accompanied by a parent. Pre-approval of the instructor is required.
- POOL AREA
- Multi-Use Pool
- No one 13 and under is allowed in the pools, spa, or pool areas unless there is a lifeguard on duty or with a swim instructor per Montana State Regulation 16.10.1524. Lifeguards are only on duty during Open Swim.
- Open Swim is available to all ages with the following exception: Children 6 and under must be accompanied in the water by an adult. A lifeguard will be on duty during all Open Swim and Preschool Open Swim times. Preschool Open Swim is designated for 1 adult per 1 or 2 children 6 and under and is in the Therapy Pool.
- Whirlpool Spa
- Anyone ages 7 to 13 can use the spa only during Open Swim times when a lifeguard is on duty per Montana State Regulation 16.10.1524.
- Children 6 and under must be accompanied in the water by an adult and can use the spa only during Open Swim times when a lifeguard is on duty.
- Children 4 and under are NOT allowed in the spa due to the risk of heat stroke and per Montana State Regulation 16.10.1524.
- Therapy Pool
- Preschool Open Swim is available to children 6 and under who are accompanied in the water by an adult. An adult to child ratio of 1 adult to 1 or 2 children is required. Maximum capacity of 20 is strictly enforced. The lifeguard can make exceptions and allow others to use the pool during this time for stretching and rehabilitation. See Summit Source for schedule.

SECTION VII - Behavioral Policy
- *All inappropriate behavior may be classified into three categories.

- CATEGORY 1: May include, but not limited to the following:
- Profanity
- Littering
- Minor disrespect towards staff, members, and/or guests
- "Disobedience" of Summit policy
- CATEGORY 2: May include, but not limited to the following:
- "Defiance" - unwilling to correct behavior when asked
- Disrespect
- Spitting
- Misuse of Equipment (May include, but not limited to):
- Hanging on rims
- Kicking basketballs/volleyballs
- Inappropriately kicking soccer balls
- Not following posted rules in pool areas
- Failure to yield equipment/space at designated times
- CATEGORY 3: May include, but not limited to the following:
- Assisting in unauthorized entry
- Vandalism
- Violence (assault/fights, threats, etc., physical or verbal)
- Careless Driving
- Any act which necessitates intervention by law enforcement
- CONSEQUENCES:
- *All incidents will be logged into a computer data base for future identification of repeat offenders. Repetitive misbehavior will not be tolerated.

- CATEGORY 1:
- Verbal warning and explanation of the rule.
- Note in member file.
- CATEGORY 2:
- Offender may be removed from activity.
- If offender is 17 and under an effort will be made to contact the parent(s), review the incident, and discuss consequences to be applied. The minor will not be allowed into the facility until the incident has been reviewed.
- If the offender is 18 or older he/she will be removed from the activity and asked to leave the facility, and a suspension applied to members. Non members will not be allowed to re- enter the facility in the future.
- Staff will fill out an incident report with offenders name, member #, phone # (parents name & phone #, if necessary), and description of incident.
- The offender may be suspended from use of The Summit for a minimum of two weeks (membership dues will not be refunded.)
- CATEGORY 3:
- Police will be called.
- Staff person will be present to assist and give a statement to responding officers.
- Staff will fill out an incident report with offenders name, member #, phone # (parents name & phone #, if necessary), and description of incident.
- Category 3 offenses may result in the immediate termination of their membership.
- Individuals terminated under Category 3 will no longer be allowed on Summit property.
- DETERMINATION OF CONSEQUENCES
- The Policy Review Committee will assess each incident and decide on a consequence(s). The majority of Category 2 offenses may carry a two-week suspension/denied access to The Summit. After two suspensions the offender's membership will be revoked. The majority of Category 3 offenses may result in termination of membership.
- APPEALS PROCESS
- Appeals must be submitted in writing to Member Services within 7 days of the incident. Each appeal will be reviewed by the Policy Review Committee.
SECTION VIII - Miscellaneous

The foregoing policies and procedures are not all inclusive. Other rules and regulations may be posted in and about the facilities and shall be binding on all Patrons.
Management reserves the right to change or amend these policies and procedures as deemed necessary for the safe and functional operation of the facility.
The Summit reserves the right to refuse service to anyone.
