Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCEs) are used to objectively measure the physical abilities of injured or disabled individuals. These tests are utilized by physicians, attorneys, case managers, insurance adjusters, vocational rehabilitation consultants, safety and risk-management personnel to:
  • safely return an individual to work
  • identify needed accommodations
  • establish realistic treatment goals for rehabilitation
  • identify potentially fraudulent cases
  • assist with determination of disability/impairment ratings
  • determine objective physical abilities and limitations




Occupational Health & Wellness Services (OHWS) is one of over 450 licensed clinics across the country specializing in the WorkSTEPS System FCE.
The WorkSTEPS FCE:
  • uses testing components that are reliable, as well as medically and legally defensible
  • provides accurate and objective data from over 30 different tests
  • determines test validity, performance percentiles, and consistency of effort from a database of over 750,000 tests [and growing]
  • offers specific recommendations for treatment and return to work decisions
  • identifies safe functional and work-related abilities

Staff
Dan Arnold, PT, CAE
Dan is a Physical Therapist and Certified Associate Ergonomist focusing primarily in the prevention and treatment of orthopedic and work-related musculoskeletal disorders and injuries since 1985. He is a certified trainer and examiner for both the WorkSTEPS FCE and Employment Testing Systems, and he has performed over 2000 combined tests, and counting.



Jamie Schefter, OTR/L
Jamie is an Occupational Therapist with experience related to injury prevention of an orthopedic and musculoskeletal nature. His specialties include ergonomics and body mechanics consulting, Behavior-Based Safety, and employment screening.Jamie is a trained examiner for WorkSTEPS FCE and Employment Testing Systems and has performed over 250 combined tests.
